MAKING GREAT TASTING SNACK PIES FOR OVER 50 YEARS!

1956:  Cutie Pie Corporation, Salt Lake City, Utah, begins manufacturing and selling fresh and raw pies for bakeries, grocery stores, and restaurants. The demand quickly increases, forcing production of a new frozen pie that can be sold as a “thaw and sell/serve” pie. 

1982:  California Pie Company is established in Dublin, California. Fresh pies are distributed throughout the western U.S. in leading chain and independent retail grocery stores. The Home Run Pie becomes a popular staple in kids’ lunch boxes.

1992:  Cutie Pie Corporation acquires California Pie Company. Fresh pies are manufactured in California; frozen pies are manufactured in SLC, UT. Additional sales channels: schools, military, fast food restaurants.

1993:  Cutie Pie begins producing private label pies for Albertson’s. This is the first of many private label partnerships.

1994:  Cutie Pie establishes a Food Service Division, producing a reduced fat product with extra fruit and fruit juice, meeting standards of the National School Lunch Program. Cutie Pie snack pies are soon available in school lunches in more than 40 states in the US. 

1996:  Horizon Holdings, LLC, a private investment firm in San Francisco, acquires Cutie Pie Corporation, establishing the Horizon Food Group. Among HFG’s other food companies:  Ne-mo’s Fine Bakery and La Tempesta.

1999:  Cutie Pie introduces a glazed Honey Bun.

2000:  Cutie Pie changes its name to Horizon Snack Foods, with headquarters in Livermore, California.

2000:  Horizon Snack Foods named the “Intermediate Wholesale Baker of the Year” by Snack Food & Wholesale Bakery magazine.  To see the full article, click here.

2002:  Horizon Snack Foods continues expansion of the Home Run brand snack pie, entering ten additional states in the Northeast and the Southern U.S.

2002:  Horizon Snack Foods wins the prestigious American Tasting Institute Gold Medal award, for the best overall snack pie in both the premium and value categories.

2003:  Horizon Snack Foods re-introduces the Cutie Pie label to its snack food product line.
